London: Anti G8 Protestors arrested in Regent Street : Carnival Against Capitalism

Hundreds of riot police have been deployed in and around central London to help deal with anti-capitalist protests ahead of next week's G8 conference.

The demonstrators had said they would stage a "Carnival Against Capitalism" ahead of the two-day summit in Belfast, Northern Ireland next week.

There was a raid on a building in Soho occupied by organisers of the demonstrations ahead of the anti-capitalism protests in London. Police could be seen using a chainsaw to open a door to the building on Beak Street, a former police station. It is believed the building was used as a headquarters by the protestors
