Urgent : Letter from Rashid: Drugged, beaten, and in grave danger

CALL IMMEDIATELY: 541-881-5000 and then press "0"

inspector general's line: (877) 678-4222

number for the or-doc: 503-945-9090. they're open 8am-5pm.

“Keep this will need it to recollect everything. Also use it as factual basis for protest and help. I’ve begun writing this at 10:00pm on Feb. 9th 2013. At this moment I am severely dehydrated, tongue coated with white film. Staff refuse any monitoring of vital signs or care. Urine looks like rust water. kidney (left) hurts.

The following is a chronology of events leading to my present state. All are significant jointly and severally in revealing gross abuse and corruption here.

Jan. 28 (on or about) while exercising inside my cell I cut my groin area on loose nylon stitching from my pants and began bleeding heavily. On noticing the stinging sensation then, upon inspection, blood. I notified the unit guard N. Claudio who contacted medical staff. After a bit of back and forth wrangling I was taken to the SHU nursing station where a nurse (name unknown) inspected the laceration gave me a wad of gauze and ordered me given a shower. She also instructed me to keep the area clean and dry.

A couple nights later I caught the same nurse while she was passing out evening medication and got a small packet of antibacterial ointment from her.

The area would not heal although I washed up several times daily and kept it dry. It kept bleeding and I complained daily to guards and nursing staff.

Feb. 1 received bacitracin (antibacterial) ointment from nurse Flores at noon. Officer Saxton got her to give it to me for the laceration. She also instructed to keep area clean and dry.

Feb. 2 spoke to nurse at a.m. medication rounds asked to be placed on sick call about cut and to receive order for bacitracin. She told me I had to wait till next day because sick call sign-ups not done on Saturdays.

That evening around 2:30 pm after working out I washed up and applied bacitracin. Officer Claudio came to my cell and stated the guard in the control center Earlicker said I was nude in the cell and needed to keep clothing on. I explained I’d just been washing up and applying bacitracin, and that Claudio knew about my laceration and medical staff’s instructions that I wash up routinely and keep the area clean, which I could not do in the cell with clothing on. We only receive showers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Just as Claudio left the cell I heard Earlicker call sergeant Kile on the walkie talkie and tell him to call her in the control center.

I should inject here that on or about Wed. and Thurs. Jan. 30th and 31st I stopped receiving my incoming mail (up till that pont I received from 5-10 letters daily, everyday. From then till this Feb. 9th date I’ve received only one letter none of my periodicals or books).

Also on or about Jan. 31st a drug or narcotic was put into my food, which I believe was similar to an epilectic drug (Tegretol) I was prescribed back in the early 1990s by the VA DOC as an admitted experimental behavior modification drug.

This drug literally makes me psychotic with episodes lasting up to a week or more. It causes an almost total loss of impulse control, hyper aggression, and a sense of clouded judgement and invincibility. I can distinctly tell when it is introduced into my system. I noticed the effects on the afternoon of Jan. 31st.

No To Fascist Mobilisation on the Streets of Wales : No to National Front in Swansea on 9th March

In this economic crisis when Wales has the lowest income per head of any nation or region in the British Isles and where anger is deep against austerity and the cuts, the British ruling class is up to its old tricks again of testing the waters for a reactionary mobilisation of the masses and using race against class.

Whilst any thinking  person knows these are not opposites that it is the working class of the national minorities of many complexions including the Welsh working class that suffer most from the current neo liberal policies of  the this Con Dem government and of the British Ruling Class.

The most important word in the language of the working class is solidarity - let Wales on the 9th March in Swansea  be a living example of that solidarity.

Long Live Welsh Anti Fascism

80th Anniversary of Roosevelt and the New Deal - Learning Lessons from the Past by Nickglais

Jennifer Taub and John Weeks discuss President Roosevelt's policy of saving the economy from the ground up

The New Deal in the USA like the Welfare State in Britain is in the process of being finally undone by the neo liberal capitalist evangelists.

What lessons should we learn today 80 years later from the New Deal and Welfare State ?

My late comrade Arthur Evans who lived in United States through the New Deal and was a member of the Communist Party of The United States and in Britain was a member of the CPGB in the 1940/50's told me the New Deal/Welfare State was also a Warfare State.

The Communists in the United States became not just John L Lewis's hunting dogs but Roosevelt's hunting dogs and Earl Browder was the pack leader, saving democracy from Fascism was seen has the overridding consideration.

However subordinating revolutionary politics came at a cost and the ease at which the Mob put Harry S Truman in power following the death of Roosevelt illustrated how narrow was the base for even a social democratic socialism in the United States.

Likewise in Britain the Welfare State came into existence at the same time of bloody interventions by British Imperialism in Greece and Malaya and the Warfare State has seen out the Welfare State.

Henry Wallace's Century of the Common Man gave way to the American Century of Time Magazine.

The American Century was a bloody Imperialist one, the Warfare State eroded the Welfare State and  destroyed the New Deal.

Watch video below on the Democratic Party Convention in 1944 that changed US politics and paved way for the new American Imperialist Century

Who gets the bird, the hunter or the dog? John L Lewis : Learning Lessons from the Past by Nickglais

John Llewellyn Lewis (February 12, 1880 – June 11, 1969) was an American leader of organized labor who served as president of the United Mine Workers of America (UMW) from 1920 to 1960. A major player in the history of coal mining, he was the driving force behind the founding of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), which established the United Steel Workers of America and helped organize millions of other industrial workers in the 1930s

Who gets the bird the hunter or the dog ? was the famous reply of John L Lewis when asked about Communists in the Steel Workers Organising Committee of the Congress of Industrial Organisations in USA.

The implication was that they were working for him and he was in charge - he owned the dogs and he got the reward the bird and not the communists.

If you had trade union communists and not communist trade unionists then of course John L Lewis was right they did indeed work for him.

One of the hallmarks of the revisionism in the Communist Parties of Britain and the United States was trade union communism and not communist trade unionism.

This type of economism* is still practicised today by the dying rump of trotskyism and revisionism in the British Isles.

John L Lewis was a social democrat and never claimed to be or ever was a communist.

However there is much controversy and criticism about him especially on the left but still a widespread recognition of his unique contribution to the rise of the US Labour Movement..

Lewis, never a Communist himself, refused to allow any of his officials to take the non-Communist oath required by the Taft-Hartley Act anti labour law in USA.

The UMW was therefore denied legal rights protected by the National Labor Relations Board.

He denounced Taft-Hartley as authorizing "government by injunction" and refused to follow its provisions, saying he would not be dictated to.

Here are some links for further critical study of John L Lewis if you want to be a revolutionary hunter and not a dog for the social democrats like the trotskyists and revisionists.

* Economism :

The ideas of economism were first formulated in the first issue of the newspaper Rabochaia mysl’: “The struggle for economic status, the struggle against capital on the grounds of vital daily interests, and the strike as the instrument of this struggle—such is the motto of the workers’ movement.”

The Economists, distorting the Marxist tenet that all class struggle is political struggle, maintained that any spontaneous action by the workers constitutes political action.

According to the Economists, what was meant by political struggle was not the independent class struggle of the proletariat  but legal opposition within the framework of the autocratic system and in alliance with other “oppositionist social strata” (for example, worker participation in the bureaus that had jurisdiction over the factories and in urban self-government and the submission of demands to the tsarist government for “protective labor legislation”).

By denying the proletariat’s need to voice its own political demands and to struggle for such demands, the “new school in Social Democracy” (as the Economists called themselves) subordinated the workers’ movement to the liberal bourgeoisie.

The economists exalted the spontaneity of the workers’ movement and maintained that the proletariat would develop its own socialist awareness in the process of spontaneous struggle.

They denied the necessity of a political party of the working class

Why Can Corporate Interests Trump Sovereign Rights? The Universal and the Particular - Swansea verses RWE

The universal interests of corporates are overriding sovereign rights of countries systematically has the above video  illustrates.

It is not only countries rights that are overridden but also cities, towns, communities and individuals..

In Wales we have the case of RWE just by the threat of legal action against the City of Swansea forced compliance by 27 votes to 24 of the council to building a windfarm on the Mynydd Y Gwair,

It was not the arguements of RWE that prevailed but its corporate power through threat of legal action.

"The previous council objected through its solicitors to the proposals. RWE, with its own QC, took it to an Assembly inspector who also rejected it. Not satisfied, the RWE QC took it to the High Court. It then had to compromise and reapply. Where is local democracy? "

The struggle for local democracy against corporate power is a universal fight and not particular to Wales - we must learn from resistance to corporate  power in other countries and emulate new methods of struggle to bring corporate power to account.

Harry Bridges Remembered - Never Forgotten

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Bridges

Harry Bridges (July 28, 1901–March 30, 1990) was an Australian-born American union leader, in the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), which he helped form and led for over 40 years. He was prosecuted by the U.S. government during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

His conviction by a federal jury for having lied about his Communist Party membership was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1953. On the West Coast, Bridges still excites passions both for and against the labor movement

"When the Chicago Unions began to work closely with the Longshoremen’s Unions, and other mob controlled Unions on the East coast they were opposed by Harry Bridges, an alleged communist, who controlled shipping on the west coast. It all ties in with the Communist threat in Hollywood, resulting in Senate hearings, noted hereafter"
