The American Socialism of Eugene Debs - Bernie Sanders 1979 Documentary

BERNIE SANDERS THE LABOR HISTORIAN AND DOCUMENTARY MAKER OF 1979 - AND THE ILLUSION MAKER OF 2016 ? BERNIE IS NO EUGENE DEBS IF HE WAS HE WOULD BE IN PRISON IN USA LIKE EUGENE DEBS WAS AND NOT A US SENATOR !

TIME TO NAIL THE BERNIE SANDERS LIE THAT REVOLUTIONARY SOCIALISTS ARE NOT DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS

Bernie Sanders with illusions or without illusions ? rhetoric and reality ? Corbyn in UK and Sanders in USA trying to breath life back into the stinking corpse of Social Democracy racing to rescue and manage crisis prone contemporary capitalism.

Social democrats reject revolutionary socialism because they do not understand capitalist state power and its neoliberal incarnation today or its capitalist incarnation yesterday with Roosevelt.

Democracy and Class Struggle welcome the fact that socialism can now be discussed in the United States as a political option has a result of the Sanders Campaign for Democratic Party Presidential Nomination.

That  opportunity must be taken to explain the difference between social democracy and revolutionary socialism and destroy the illusions about capitalist state power that reformist social democracy creates.

Eugene Debs’s conception of the party was also the opposite of Lenin’s.

Eugene Debs embraced the social-democratic view that the workers party should be a party of the whole class, a big tent that embraced working-class tendencies of all types, including outright racists like Victor Berger, the Wisconsin SP Congressman.

Such a conception of the party prioritizes unity with non-revolutionary and anti-revolutionary elements over building a programmatically unified party of revolutionaries that would be capable of leading a socialist revolution.

Thus, a social-democratic party’s right wing ends up determining the party’s program and practice.

Time to build a revolutionary socialist movement and party in the United States.
