USA: Kshama Sawant victory in Seattle brings back memories of Anna Louise Strong and the Seattle General Strike of 1919
The Kshama Sawant, a “Socialist Alternative” in Seattle victory comes exactly 97 years after Seattle voters put their first outspoken radical into office, Seattle School Board member Anna Louise Strong. Strong would write about the Wobblies, oppose U.S. entry into World War I and eventually end her days in China, where she was on friendly terms with Mao Zedong.
Kshama Sawant is a member of Socialist Alternative which we undertand is a Trotskyist organisation
and would certainly not find approval from Anna Louise Strong.
