A most significant protest has been initiated by the Zameen prapat Sangharsh Comittee shimmering the light of liberation against the fascistic forces of oppression.

A huge gherao was held in Lehra gaga in Sangrur town at the police station demanding punishment of a culprit responsible for death of Gurdev Kaur.

2 days later the B.K.U launched another heroic protest mobilising thousands of framers and thus organizing the landed peasantry to support the landless labourers.The Zameen Prapt Sanghrash commitee also in a meeting launched it's agenda for the state elections calling on the people to boycott all the ruling class parties.

Mukesh Malaud,convenor of ZPSC stated that the political parties were all vying with each other for capturing power but neglecting all the burning issues of the masses be it price-rise,suicide deaths,denying of plots,unemployment,distribution of land,exploitation of women.loot of corporates etc.ZPSC plans  to stage a rally projecting the revolutionary alternative and exposing the nefarious anti-people policies of the ruling class parties on January 29th in Sangrur city.

This is one of the most significant revolutionary democratic developments in the country before the state elections .The movement led by the ZPSC is a most significant base for projecting a revolutionary alternative for the toiling people and the struggles it has led in recent times have played a major role in instilling revolutionary consciousness.

Sangrur, January 6

A 65-year-old farmer, Pritam Singh of Chhajli village (Lehragaga), today reportedly died of heart attack during a protest outside a police station at Lehragaga.

The protesters maintained that they would not allow the post-mortem or cremation of the deceased till the acceptance of their earlier demands, besides the grant of Rs 10 lakh as compensation and a government job to the family of the deceased farmer.

The protest by farmer organisations was held to demand the arrest of the remaining accused in the “murder” of 72-year-old Dalit woman Gurdev Kaur of Jhaloor village. Gurdev Kaur died following a clash over the issue of reserved panchayat land.

Other demands of the protesters include compensation for the damaged vehicles of Dalits, cancellation of “dummy auction” of reserved panchayat land in Jhaloor village, allotment of entire one-third share of land to Dalits for joint farming and cancellation of cases against agitating leaders and activists during the struggle.

Mukesh Malaud, district president, Zamin Prapati Sanghrash Committee, said at the meeting with the Lehra SDM, he had given them an assurance that the administration would find a solution in three days to resolve the issue. — OC

Sangrur, January 6

Hundreds of farmers, led by BKU (Sidhupur) state president Pishora Singh Sidhupur, blocked traffic at Mahavir Chowk here today, seeking the unconditional release of five farmers of Jhaloor village.

These farmers were arrested by the police in connection with a case registered against them following a clash that took place on October 5 at Jhaloor village between Dalits and upper caste persons over the issue of panchayat land reserved for SCs.

Addressing the protesters, Sidhupur said the dharna being staged since January 2 outside the DC office here would continue till their demands are accepted.

He said thousands of farmers from various parts of the state would take part in a dharna on January 9 outside the DC office here. Other demands of the protesters include the arrest of those Dalits who had damaged the paddy crop of a Dalit farmer, Jagraj Singh in Jhaloor village, compensation for the damaged paddy crop of the Dalit farmer, and the cancellation of a case registered against farmers under Section 302 of the IPC
