Prachanda for 'all-party' govt; 7-party meeting to decide composition of new govt
Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that efforts are on to convince the parties in the current government and the Madhesi parties to join the incoming government.
Emerging from a meeting with CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter's residence in Koteshwor on Monday, Prachanda said his party wanted the ruling parties and the Madhesi parties to be part of the next government.
He claimed that major parties were close to reaching an understanding to form a 'consensus government'.
Describing today's discussion with UML leaders as being positive, the Maoist chairman said he was hopeful that the UML would join the government.
He further said, "I am confident that things will move ahead smoothly in forming a consensus government."
Responding to a query over the reported bickering between his party and the Nepali Congress over power-sharing, Prachanda said, "There is no disagreement among us regarding power-sharing, but we have not started deliberation on division of portfolios."
Prachanda informed that a meeting of the seven-party alliance would be held in two or three days to discuss the formation of government and bring other parties into a new alliance.
Acting UML general secretary Amrit Bohara was also present at the meeting.
Prachanda, who has been projected as the next Prime Minister with the Maoist party emerging as the largest party after the constituent assembly polls, has already held series of meetings with leaders of various parties and is scheduled to meet the leaders of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and Terai Madhesh Loktrantrik Party very soon to convince them to support the incoming 'Maoist-led' government. nepalnews.com
