Down with French Intervention in Côte d'Ivoire.
RESISTANCE IN COTE D'IVOIRE
From the beginning of colonization, there was strong resistance in Côte d'Ivoire. In the forest region, people accustomed to independence had never accepted the requirements of the Authority. Revolts took place in Baule country. In 1908, Governor Angoulvant, a follower of the "hard way" (tax on guns and confiscation without compensation) requires the tax year plus taxes since 1902. It punishes recalcitrant villages burnt palms cut, "fines of war", etc.. In 1910 he proceeded to the "pacification".
The Ivorians, like other peoples of the AOF and AEF are forcibly recruited on the promise of independence during the two world wars.
INDEPENDENCE OF THE COTE D'IVOIRE
The independence of Côte d'Ivoire has proclaimed August 7, 1960. France relies on the elite that had formed in its image and enter into agreements of cooperation.Houphouet-Boigny, a large planter, one of them. To defend its interests and those of French imperialism, he does several rounds of treatment, punishes students and get rid of young leftists in his own party, the PDCI. France has a stranglehold on all sectors of the economy: industry, services, trade - where the French capital amounted to 55%. France maintains a military base at Port-Bouet. There are 40,000 volunteers of 1970 to 1980. Clientelism and corruption on a large scale to develop.
THE ROOTS OF THE CURRENT CRISIS
When the economic crisis point, everything becomes problematic. Combined with climatic hazards and the exploitation of timber is depression. In 1987, the country suspended payment of its debt and cocoa production to force up prices. It is a failure.A dose of austerity is established in 1990 by Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara (90-93). It urges a reduction in state spending and payroll leading to unemployment and urban poverty
.
In December 1993, Houphouet-Boigny died. Bédié succeeded him. He began a policy of "ivoirité restricting foreigners' access to citizenship (Law of 12.13.1994). During the 1995 election, Alassane Outra nationality is considered "questionable", it can stand for election. It calls for a boycott of the poll, as Laurent Gbagbo, leader of the FPI. The Ivorian develops xenophobia against people of the North (and Muslim Dioula) and serves to mask the decline of the economy, corruption.
On December 24, 1999, General Robert Guei is a coup. Installs a junta to ensure the transition to the 2000 elections. Alassane Ouatara became head of the RDR (Rally of Republicans) that includes former members of the PDCI. The 2000 elections were boycotted by some voters, Ouattara and Bedie have been rejected. Laurent Gbagbo was elected. Robert Guei must shrink the popular demonstrations that degenerated into clashes (200 dead). Gbagbo tries opening in October 2001. On September 19, 2002, attempted coup followed the assassination of political figures including Robert Guei.
A military rebellion led by the Patriotic Movement of Côte d'Ivoire (MPCI), whose leader Guillaume Soro was taking control of north Côte d'Ivoire . On 22 September the French soldiers are involved (Operation Licorne) and impose a cease-fire fixed positions.France brings together the two parties signing the Marcoussis Agreement providing for a transitional government formed by Seydou Diarra.
In September 2003, "New Forces", ex-rebels, leaving the government despite mediation efforts of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States Western), the direct involvement of South African President Thabo Mbeki and the maintenance of French troops (4000 men). In April 2004, the UN set up a peacekeeping force of 6,000 men of peace. The breaking of the ceasefire in November 2004 by the death of nine French soldiers involves the destruction of the Ivorian air force by the French army. French soldiers also opened fire on demonstrations opposing the French military presence by tens of thousands of dead and wounded. The anti-French demonstrations in Abidjan LEAD evacuation of 8,000 French and bi-national.
In late 2004, over 500 French companies have closed, highlighting the economic downturn and unemployment. GDP per capita rose from 900 to $ 600 in 2000-2001 and rose to $ 850 in 2005. There was no collapse due to resource exports (coffee and cocoa account for 40%) and oil (20,000 barrels a day in 2004). But there are 10,000 jobs lost. The agricultural sector is affected and the health status has deteriorated: increase of infant mortality, AIDS progression, ... 38.5% of households live below the poverty line. The departure of Côte d'Ivoire of thousands of Burkinabe, Malians, Nigerians constituted a new charge for these countries.
In a context of political instability and the advent of controversial Laurent Gbagbo, the war in 2002 caused a rift between the "North" and "South", the collapse of the national economy, human rights violations and unprecedented tensions with France, former colonial power, and with neighboring countries, mainly Burkina Faso. Discredit is thrown on ECOWAS and the African Union, both powerless to respond to emergencies related to conflicts, as well as structural problems raised by the conflict. If the war is stopped since 2007, the country is rebuilt.
WHO BENEFITS THE CONFLICT?
The current crisis shows that the troops of French imperialism and other imperialist (EU and USA) are only supplementary troops of imperialism, organized within the UN-supported African forces that defend the ECOWAS imperialist interests in the context of "globalization." They are reflected, inter alia, to counteract the appetites of China, India and emerging countries. The skipper of the first private group Ivorian, Jean-Louis Billion in partnership with the Asian giant Olam is the heavyweight of agro-industry in West Africa. He is also chairman of the ICAC (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire). He called for suspending the payment of taxes, which led Gbagbo to prohibit him from leaving the country.
Do not forget that Ouatarra is not a democrat for the people. When he was director of the IMF Africa, he was connected with Susan Rice (PNU), Nicolas Sarkozy, Abou Diouf, N'guesso Paul Bia, Laurent Fabius, Strauss Khan, Michel Camdessus (former leader of the IMF), Martin Bouygues etc.. His wife, a French woman, has been CEO of the International real estate marketing (CNA) which managed the property of Felix Houphouet-Boigny and Omar Bongo.
Before the 2010 elections, Claude Gueant first landed in Abidjan. The following PS. On October 16, 2010, Jean-Christophe and Jean-Marie Cambadélis Le Guen appears at a rally next to Gbagbo. The next day, Jack Lang accompanied the President campaign. Before the election, an envoy of Sarkozy said: "Laurent is the candidate of democracy." Henri Emmanuelli said: "Côte d'Ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo's". So the same people who thought that Gbagbo was the best candidate, the same people who supported him fully, now want to liquidate.
The choice of the imperialists to impose a new valet was prepared long before, in 2002. The process accelerated when Gbagbo sought to diversify its trade links, particularly with China capitalist, imperialist rising new power. France, the U.S. and the EU, the IMF and the WB, the "watchdogs" of other African countries, the intervention forces of the United Nations chose Ouattara for Côte d'Ivoire. They know him and think he can be a guard dog at their convenience, responsible for preserving their interests in their economic war with China for the division of Africa, the exploitation of its natural resources (including diamonds, oil, cocoa, strategic metals, ...). This is done at the cost of thousands dead. The imperialists have won. Gbagbo was arrested. It is the people who once bore the brunt of the civil war in favor of the imperialists.
ONE WAY TO GET OUT
The struggle of oppressed peoples for their emancipation, is a struggle against imperialism and the comprador bourgeoisie and bureaucratic. As Lenin said, history shows us that the national bourgeoisie eventually agree with the imperialists to share the profits of the country's wealth on the backs of their own people. The only conclusion is that the people forge the party they need to break away from the clutches of imperialism and guard dogs. This objective cannot be achieved without the political leadership of the proletariat.
The imperialists and their lackeys are ready, and they demonstrate, to ignite the entire earth in blood. Only the prolonged popular war might make them disgorge and lead to the emancipation of humanity, a world freed forever from exploitation and oppression, to end the wars of plunder.
Join the struggle of the proletariat and oppressed peoples AGAINST THE CAPITALIST SYSTEM AND AGAINST IMPERIALISM AND ITS GUARD DOGS!
