CAIRO, March 9 (UPI) -- At least 12 people were injured Wednesday when mobs armed with knives attacked protesters in Egypt's Liberation Square, hospital officials said.
Men carrying knives tried to break up a group of protesters gathered in the central square in Cairo. The fighting left 12 people injured, hospital officials told Egyptian daily newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Liberation Square demonstrators Wednesday were calling for the trial of former President
Hosni Mubarak and an end to the emergency law in place for much of the last 30 years.
