Combat Liberalism by Comrade Kiran

UCPN (Maoist) vice-chairman Mohan Baidya aka Comrade Kiran has expressed regret for being liberal on the past pacts, especially while negotiating with the CPN-UML.

Claiming that the party sacrificed on many counts in the past for the sake of logical conclusion of the ongoing peace process and timely statute, Baidya said the Maoist party would remain alert in not becoming so much liberal in future negotiations with other parties.

Speaking at a programme on Saturday in Lalitpur, Baidya also mentioned that his party has learnt a "big lesson" from the UML's recent dealing with the Maoists after the formation of Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal's government. He said that UML's denial of Ministry of Home Affairs to the Maoist party has taught a lesson to the party that too much of flexibility is not good in politics.

He maintained that UML has not moved ahead as per the 7-point deal signed by the PM and Maoist chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda.

According to Baidya, the upcoming standing committee meeting would revise the party's position on some of the major agendas, saying it will also determine the maximum flexibility the party will have to demonstrate in future negotiations with other parties.
