Sources say that India had earlier pressurized Nepal to appoint Indian consultants and advisors at the Police Academy going to be constructed in Panauti of Kavre district. Hopefully, the issue will be sorted out during President’s Yadav visit to India, say reports quoting sources at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Nepal.
“India had also proposed appointment of representatives of Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Indian Embassy in Kathmandu at the executive body of the Police Academy”, report also adds. What a joke?
The agreement on construction of Police Academy could not be signed during the last visit of Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna to Nepal because of the Indian “puzzling and humiliating” demands, adds source.
“Though India has been extending supports to Nepal on various fronts since several decades all those supports have come with certain strings attached”, say India watchers in Nepal. No free lunch from India.
“Thus no surprise India is always viewed with suspicion in Nepal”, experts conclude
