India: Six personnel of the Jharkhand Jaguar Force, a special unit of the state police department, were killed in a landmine blast carried out by Maoists on the border of Latehar and Garhwa districts on Tuesday.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Vipul Shukla said the police had information that some Maoists were present in Chinjo area of Garhwa district. He said when the security personnel reached the area in the evening, the Maoists triggered a landmine blast and opened fire, killing six personnel.
Some security personnel were also injured in the incident. Shukla said an encounter was going on and additional security personnel were being rushed to the area. The incident is reported to have occurred in the Budha Pahar area, located on the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border.
This is the first big attack by Maoists in Jharkhand after January 27, 2016, when seven police personnel were killed in Palamu district, The Indian Express.
