Greek Student Solidarity with British Students - Clash at British Embassy Athens



Police and students clashed earlier today outside the Greek Parliament during a rally against governments’ education reforms and out of solidarity with protesting British students.

Some 2,000 leftist students marched through Athens downtown. As they tried to break a police cordon to march to the British embassy in solidarity with British students, the situation got out of control Police fired teargas and arrested five protesters. three students were slightly injured.




Later the students were released after the mediation of two members of the parliament.

Opposing governmental reforms like handing over the university management many student groups have staged occupations of university buildings around the country.

A student rally is planned next Monday (December 6) to commemorate the fatal shooting of teenager boy Alexandros Grigoropoulos by a police man, two years ago.
