Maoists will abandon Prachandapath, says Prakash ?
Narayankaji Shrestha Prakash, general secretary of Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Center-Masal), has revealed that the Maoists are set to drop ‘Prachandapath’ as their ideology.
Addressing a press meet in Butwal, Sunday, Prakash said that his party will soon unite with the Maoists for which there have been flexibility from both sides.
“Although respecting the role and leadership of Prachanda, the Maoists have agreed to abandon Prachandapath. This will be implemented soon,” he said.
Prachandapath is a synthesised ideology followed by the Maoists along with Marxism, Leninism and Maoism.
Prakash further added that the Maoists will also change their party’s name after unification. He said that they will drop the brand ‘Maoists’ and will carry the name simply as the Communist Party of Nepal.
Prakash had recently surfaced from underground politics. He is said to be close to Maoist chairman Prachanda.
Democracy and Class Struggle welcome unification of the many Communist Parties in Nepal into a United Communist Party however the second part of the story about dropping the term Maoist from the Party label which Chairman Prachanda has spoken of before does not mean the abandonment of Marxism Leninism Maoism.
Democracy and Class Struggle believe the creation of a United Nepalese Communist Party must continue to be guided by Marxism Leninism Maoism and if these are the true reported words of Comrade Prakesh by Nepal News or misreporting which has often been the case - we await a correction or re- confirmation by the Communist Party of Nepal Maoist that they will continue to adhere to Marxism Leninism Maoism and we all wish them success in unifying the Nepalese Communist Movement.
Strategic firmess on Marxism Leninism Maoism tactical flexibilty on Party name in interests of unification of Nepali Communist Movement.
